Despite the name this hotel takes its place right in the centre of Tokyos business district. It is a 5 star hotel but is also known for having some very reasonable rates compared to other hotels in the area. Since it was opened in 1983 it has covered many government occasions and is a favourite among visiting dignitaries to Japan.

It is well situated in a pleasant area close to good transport links, it fully utilizes the benefits of its favorable location and relaxing atmosphere. Conveniently located near the Shinjuku Train Station and close to restaurants and activities in the Shinjuku area, the hotel guarantees a pleasant stay in Tokyo. The wide selection of restaurants and bars are also ideal for having dinner or for meeting friends with a great view of city. In fact, the meal plan is an added feature and the breakfasts specially, are excellent. The courteous and helpful staff makes it easier for you even if you don’t speak Japanese. Also if you are thinking of traveling soon i recommend airfare-now.com for the best airfare quotes, tips, coupons, etc. Alot of people are asking me lately if Hotels Rochester are just as good value as ever and i think i have to agree.

Claska just manages to tip its hat to Tokyo chic while staying on the right side of pretentious. Not so much a hotel as a party venue and art gallery that just happens to have a few rooms upstairs. Booking well ahead is recommended: just nine rooms, all different and with wildly varying rates. Longer stays possible. Highlight is the spacious rooftop terrace. Claska will undergo renovations from January 15 2008; the owners don’t expect to open again until next spring. It should be worth the wait.

· Rooms from 10,500 yen (£46) for a single, 18,900 yen (£83) for a double. You may also want to check out Lodging in New Orleans if you are thinking of visiting anytime soon.

What factors do you consider when you think about booking a hotel anywhere? Well for me one of the most important things is and always has been the location of the hotel. So many people these days book a hotel outside the city centre because it is so much cheaper than one closer to the main amenities. However they don’t factor in that they will have to travel into the city centre almost every day to visit the attractions they want to see. The cost of commuting into the city centre can vary from city to city but it is always something you should consider before you book as the cost of taxis and even public transport can really mount up and what started as a cheap break can quickly turn into a very expensive holiday with travel being the main culprit.

Another thing to factor is that they you should not be paying for services that you do not intend to use such as leisure facilities like the gym or swimming pool. You may think that because it is free it doesn’t really matter but you can be that the price of these so called free services has been factored into the overall price of your stay.

Ok so i often think that it can be very hard to visualise how hotels are spread though-out a city and this is especially true if you have never been there before. Tokyo is very densely packed and the same is true when it comes to hotels but there is a very wide variety of places to stay and price ranges. Have a look at the map below, the bigger markers represent larger hotels.
